2006 Club AGM Several
major issues were discussed, including the way membership fees were collected.
It was decided that rather than have a separate annual fee and an evening
session fee, the two would be combined. It had been many years since the fees
were last increased and due to the fact that the cost of hiring schools halls
had gone up quite a lot, the new membership fees were set at £180 for adults
and £105 for under 16s. It was also suggested that the fees could be paid in
three equal installments. The
borrowing of club equipment was also discussed. The original idea of having club
jackets, masks etc was so that those people taking part in the Beginners' Course
didn't have to buy expensive gear just so they could try fencing. The idea was
that once someone decided they wanted to carry on fencing, they would buy their
own equipment, the same way you would playing any other sport. In recent times
the amount of club equipment available for beginners has become limited. It was
agreed that it was only fair that club members obtain their own gear as soon as
they could. No-one
volunteered to take over any of the Club Committee positions (what a surprise)
so the following continue in their current positions: Geoff
